Role: Freelance Senior Creative Lead
Crafting brand worlds, systems and digital things, that’s my happy place. Whether it’s designing new brands or reimagining existing ones, I relish the tiny and behemoth-scale projects all the same. I get most excited in pushing clients and brands into spaces that might not otherwise have chosen to go.
Projects that get me excited:
Brand Identities. Rebrands. Digital design. Print design. Art Direction. Campaigns. Sports. Fantasy. Tech. Gaming.
Making Giants
Jul 2017 - Aug 2020 · 4 yrs 5 mos
Role: Lead Creative
Initially, I was tasked with improving the digital and branding offering at FPCG. The role eventually snowballed into reshaping the group of five design companies into one creatively led agency. This meant an ethos and cultural shift from knee-jerk responding to clients to being more considered and challenging in our work. Ultimately, always trying to make things better, hence, FPCG became MakingGiants.
Brewery London
Jun 2014 - May 2017 · 3 yrs
Role: Senior Designer
Which comes first, the product or the brand? I’d always say brand. That reason for being is what makes everything tick and beat. At Brewery it was all about how to take that reason and articulate it into new tangible products that people actually care about.
We worked with clients such as Intel, Estée Lauder and Lowepro to innovate with their brand DNA and create new product innovations.
Jake Design
Jun 2010 - Oct 2013 · 3 yrs 5 mos
Role: Designer
Designer by day, barman by night, Jake Design was my start. With a degree in design out the window, I was given a chance by two wonderful designers to join their studio and learn on the job instead. There, I learnt a blend of graphic and interior design. Understanding how to take projects from conceptual scribbles into reality.
That meeting point between 2D and 3D spaces gave me an appreciation for how a brand can manifest in ways beyond the conventional screen and print layouts.
Being a small team meant I was constantly aware of everything that was going on. The highs, the lows and the mucking in. All of which quickly gave me a commercial sensibility and understanding that held me and my work accountable. Essentially, make sure there’s enough meat in the pie for the client and consumer to buy into it. Something that has always stuck with me.
